The new Haitian Coalition Mission Statement:
The Haitian Coalition works to assist youth and young adult Haitians, using a holistic approach to improve the overall social, educational, and economical development in Somerville, Medford, Malden and the surrounding areas.
Three new officers are elected to the Board of Directors!
Last year, the Haitian Coalition hired new members for the Board of Directors. There are now twelve members on the Board! At the annual meeting in April 2005, the election was held for officers for the new Board. This year’s new officers are:
As mentioned above, the new Board met for their annual retreat in May of 2005. The members gathered for a full day to assess the achievements of the Haitian Coalition from the last year, as well as to create a new mission statement. It was a successful day, as the mission was revised to be more narrow-focused. The goal was to focus the priority of the organization, as can be seen by reading the above-displayed Mission Statement. There is now a much stronger emphasis on youth services than previously.
